PLAYING AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE BLUE REVOLUTION OF COOCH BEHAR DISTRICT

West Bengal is the State in India which consumes the maximum Fish in India. There is a huge gap in the Demand and Supply of Fish in West Bengal. Hence, there is a great opportunity for fisheries as an income generation activities for rural poor and especially women in Coochbehar District, West Bengal.

SSCOP has different Models of Fisheries Business catering to different stakeholders. SSCOP has initiated Bio-Floc method of Fish rearing and have started imparting training - Has conducted 6 Training's already with almost 200 participants. A number of them have started with their own units.

SSCOP intervention in Fisheries which we have created for increasing the incomes of our small and marginal farmers and especially women through 'Plastic Fish Pond‘ made up of high quality plastic . We have piloted this successfully and there are already more than 600 such initiatives in place in Coochbehar and other Districts and States.

We are also running training on small fisheries unit under the Utkarsha Bangla, PBSSD Scheme. SSCOP promoted CAFSPL is a dealer of High quality Fish Feed of Godrej Agrovet Ltd. (GAVL)

There is a big Mission called “Mission Egg & Meat” which is currently moving a break neck speed in North Bengal. SSCOP has introduced a variety of Poultry Birds like quail, Guinea Fowl, Turkey, RIR, Sonali, Aseel, Giriraj, Kadaknath breed of poultry birds which is not only creating huge business opportunities but also changing the taste buds of North Bengal communities.

The Khaki Campbell and the White Pekin ducks are now creating rural businesses for women entrepreneurs and 68 such units are now in operations.

SSCOp to cater to end to end supply chain has developed its own brand of incubators and ahs also tied up with GAVL Animal Feed division as a Dealer (through CAFSPL).
